Halliburton FOX9 Base Camp

A 250,000 m² living and industrial hub in the Libyan desert. We took it turnkey on an EPC basis, built to international oil & gas standards, from the prefabricated housing to a 10,000 m² crane-equipped workshop.

Halliburton FOX9 Facility

Scope

We built a complete living and industrial hub for Halliburton operations, 250,000 m² out in the Libyan desert. The camp housed 200 staff in prefabricated buildings, with dining, kitchen, storage and laundry. Next to it we put up an industrial complex of more than 20,000 m².

The main piece was a 10,000 m² workshop, built from pre-engineered insulated steel. It had overhead cranes, drive-through maintenance bays and automated roll-up doors, plus a second floor for testing laboratories and offices. The infrastructure was a big part of the job. We drilled water wells, put in water and sewage treatment plants and ran an underground electrical and piping network across the site. We also built a 2,000 m perimeter of 4 m-high double-protected fencing.

Challenge

Build an oilfield-services facility to international oil & gas standards on a controlled site where safety came first.

Solution

We self-performed the civil and supporting MEP works, with strict HSE and QA/QC under client and EPC oversight.

Result

The facility was built to spec and handed over ready to run.
